Maureen Ndeda is a passionate leader in agricultural development, seed system innovation, and women-led sustainability programs. As the Chief Executive Officer of Umoja Seeds, she brings bold vision and hands-on experience to the mission of transforming farming communities through indigenous seed revival and climate-resilient agriculture.

With a background in rural entrepreneurship, Maureen champions inclusive models that put farmers especially women and youth at the center of policy and practice.

Under Maureen’s leadership, Umoja Seeds is:

  • Scaling up community seed banks across East Africa

  • Designing farmer-led training models in agroecology

  • Advocating for gender equity in agricultural policy

  • Expanding strategic partnerships with global seed networks
